Cork

The bark of an oak tree is peeled off, allowing the tree to regenerate. Oak tree is a slo growing tree so this allows the bark to be stripped up to 16 times in the liftime of one tree. Removing the bark from the trunk, allowing new bark to form allows more CO2 to be absorbed that if the tree was left to grow without having its bark removed.

Advantages - slip resistance, buoyancy, flexibility, softness, impermeabililty, thermal insulation.

The desire to increase sustainable and green construction and the desire to reduce toxins in indoor environments will increase use.
